"Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall!" Hos. 14:1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
When troubles begin, we ask "Why me, Lord?" As if we had done nothing wrong. Sin is always undertaken with presumption - that we will not suffer consequences. We become smug, without fear of God. It is not that God punishes us for every little sin, but sin has consequences. It brings misery to ourselves and our loved ones. It ruins relationships. It can lead to our downfall. God calls us back to Himself. His forgiveness guarantees that our sin will not be our undoing. He calls us to rise from our downfall, and to pursue His path, the way of righteousness! "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
O Lord, do not let me remain smug in my sin. Remind me of how destructive sin is! Thank you for never giving me what I truly deserve. Thank You for Your forgiveness in Jesus. Lead me in my return to You, that I may have Your wisdom and Your peace. Amen. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
