Wisdom Guards Us

"Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse."
Proverbs 2:11,12

The author shares where such "discretion, understanding, and wisdom will come from. "If you accept my words and store up my commands within you." [Prov. 2:1]

The ways of sinful men are dangerous. The words of sinful men are perverse, misleading us into sin and nonsensical beliefs.

Wisdom is the Word of God, the knowledge of Christ, the true knowledge of God, and the "fear of the Lord" [faith in Jesus our Savior].

In this way alone God protects us, guards us, and saves us! So let us turn our ears to wisdom, our hearts to understanding. Let us hear and heed God's Word.

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, it seems hard to believe that Your Word alone can provide me with these safeguards for life. Give me the wisdom to know and believe Your Word to be true. Give me the desire to learn Your Word, and through it keep me safe from all evil. Amen.
