Wine And Beer

"If a liar and deceiver comes and says, 'I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,' he would be just the prophet for this people."
Micah 2:11

People are predisposed to believe what they want to believe.  We must watch this tendency in ourselves.  A prophecy of prosperity, or a prophecy to indulge your desires, to party, to have a good time - these messages are appealing.

Christian prophecy deals with truth.  The unpleasant truth regarding our sin, and our need to repent.  The unpleasant reality of God's judgment on human sin.  Christian prophecy is truth, but not exactly what people want to believe.

God speaks unpleasant truth to you, so that you may also know His forgiveness and mercy in Jesus.  He wants you to know His love, and to know the truth, that your life might be noble, beautiful and virtuous.

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, I too am willing to embrace distortions that comfort me in my sins, and that anesthetize me to the truth.  Continue to send your prophecy to me.  Give me an honest, repentant heart.  Give me the peace of knowing Your forgiveness and love.  Help me believe in love and virtue.  Amen.
