NOTE:   Sorry about the mix-up with Wednesday's mailing!  Thursday and Friday are
retreat days, back into the wilderness, for some hiking, and to finish reading a book about Herod the Great!

This sounds very militaristic, and perhaps even arrogant.  Many Christians today do not want to see pastors and theologians have this confidence.

While the world certainly sees this as arrogance, the world today has in fact retreated from debate on these issues.  When they do come for debate, the result is exactly as described by Paul in this verse.

What is at stake is not money from publishing books, or an advancement at the University.  It is the true and genuine knowledge of God, and the salvation of souls.  It is war, but the war was declared by the devil, and therefore is defensive.  But it must be fought, and we would all do well to prepare ourselves to participate in it!

The truth will prevail!  God so loved the world that He sent His Son.  His Son is the Savior of the world, and our Savior as well!  His Word endures forever!

Prayer For The Day

O Lord God, thank You for catching the wise in their craftiness, and guaranteeing the victory of Your Word, the "foolishness of the cross."  Enable us not only to believe in Jesus, and truly know You, but to also defend this faith against everything which distorts, perverts, and destroys the knowledge of You.  Amen.
