"I saw the tears of the oppressed - and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors." Eccl. 4:1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This is life under sin - imbalance of power, oppression, tears, and no comforter. Sometimes you are oppressed; at times you oppress others. "I saw the tears . . . " calls us away from oppression, and to the cause of comforting. God also sees the tears of the oppressed. His power is not always seen, nor His compassion. Jesus is God's response to the tears. He has become our comforter, our Savior. He was oppressed too, but remained a "comforter." Let us also "see the tears" of the oppressed, and step in to comfort, even as God has comforted us. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Thank You Lord, for seeing my own tears, and for your loving care. Forgive me for the tears I have caused, and enable me to forsake oppressing others. Help me to to see the tears of others, and to comfort them with Your love, for Jesus' sake, Amen. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
