Most of us, most of the time, find it much easier to take refuge in men, than in the Lord.  Mostly, we tend to trust in ourselves.

We can see ourselves and can see other men.  We can't see God.  We know our capabilities and talents, our weaknesses and limitations.  The problem is, we are ignorant of or forget the capability and power of God, that He has no weakness or limitations.

Perhaps the problem too is that we lose sight of His love, and believe we will find more leniency and compassion from human beings.  Look at Jesus!  How God has loved us in His suffering and death!  King David had it right, in preferring to fall into the hands of God rather than the hands of men [2 Samuel 24].

If you truly know the Lord, and His great love for you, then you too know the truth.  We are often harder on ourselves than God is on us!  It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to trust in men!

Prayer For The Day

O Heavenly Father, forgive me for my lack of faith and trust in You.  It may seem lonely to take refuge in You, and it may be difficult to let go of my self-determination and independence, but help me to see Your great love that I may trust in You above all things!  Amen.
