"But David said to Abishai, 'Don't destroy him! Who can lay
a hand on the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?'"

Thought For The Day

The people around him often thought David to be foolish. He often exercised mercy where common sense dictated violence and justice.
But David saw things differently. He respected God. He respected the authority God had established. He trusted God's providence, and patiently waited for God's provision. He knew God's way was better than man's way.
These two aspects of relationship with God are worth contemplating. Respect for those anointed by God to places of leadership, and patient trust in God to work things out for us.
God provided for our eternal life in a way that conflicted with common
sense, in the gift of Jesus. He will provide all blessings for us
in time. We already have eternal life. Let us also trust Him,
and let Him provide for us in His own way, and in His own time.

Prayer
For The Day
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
O Lord, I too am tempted to take things into my own hands, and to
embark on a course of action that I think will best work Your will.
I am tempted with the thought that "the end will justify the means."
Instill respect for You, and trust in You, in my heart, that I may do what
is right, and patiently leave the outcome in Your hands. Amen.
