"Then Agrippa said to Paul, 'Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?" Acts 26:28 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
No, you cannot "persuade" anyone to be a Christian. King Agrippa held a position of authority. Inevitably, he began weighing what it would cost him politically, socially, and financially, to become a Christian. As soon as we think this way, we have to be persuaded, and that is impossible. Only the Holy Spirit can give us new birth, making us Christians. He does so through the word, which Paul was using with Agrippa. Paul knew he wouldn't persuade Agrippa. He did know the Holy Spirit converted some unlikely prospects! Paul was one of them. We too may be unlikely Christians. Remember to speak the word. Who knows who God will "persuade." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
O Lord, I too have much to lose by being your child. Yet You have shown me that these things don't really matter. I sometimes feel that I need your persuasion. Give me more of Your Holy Spirit, that I may simply believe and trust in Your love. Then I will enjoy the blessings of Your children, forever! Amen. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
