In reality, idols are nothing at all. Likewise, all the false gods worshipped and served by humanity are nothing. There is only one God, the God of Holy Scripture, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

However, idols and false gods are something to the people who worship them! They take the place of God Himself. Idolatry is deluding, distorting, and dementing!

Even the things of this world, which we idolize, the things we revere, love, and trust more than God, are nothing. They will pass away! They have no permanence! May we turn to God for forgiveness for our idolatry, and may we remember that there is only one God!

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, every day it seems I find the things of this world to be of greater importance than You. Forgive me, and help me to see that only You are eternal, only You are almighty, only You are truly love, You only are God. Turn my heart more fully to You, that I may give You all praise and glory, Amen!
