"She went and told the man of God, and he said, 'Go, sell the oil
and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.'"

Thought For The Day

The woman's husband, one of the band of prophets, had died. The woman appealed to Elisha for help. Through Elisha, God provided a miracle of abundant oil, so that this pious woman and her children could live.
Some of God's people today continue to struggle to pay their debts and live. Yet it is amazing to see God's help and provision. Cars do not wear out. Tires last longer than they should. Shirts become out of style without wearing out. A small bit of food provides more nourishment and satisfaction than it should. Some financial help mysteriously appears completely unexpectedly.
These are the faith-strengthening joys that come to simple, humble, children of God, who trust in Him and "cast their cares upon Him." He truly cares for us, and demonstrates His care by providing for us.
Wealth can get in the way of seeing the hand of God. Self-sufficiency
can blind us to the sufficiency of God's providence! Pride may cause
us to resent God's provision. We may envy those who don't need God's
help. How blessed to hear God's promise: "You and your sons
can live on what is left."

O Lord, help me to grow in contentment with what You have given me. Give me peace in knowing Your love and care for me, that You will always provide for me. Give me the joy of seeing Your gracious love and provision for all my needs, that I may thank and praise You forever, Amen.
