"A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that is was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, 'Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"

God lets His children continue to live in a dangerous world. Squalls come up. Our boat is sometimes swamped. The world sees this and concludes, either God is weak or He doesn't care. We wonder how God can let the dangers come so near. We sometimes wonder, "Lord, don't you care?"

God is Almighty. Jesus demonstrated that, by restoring complete calm. God's love for us is immense, perfect. Jesus demonstrated that in laying down His life for us. From God's perspective, we are never in danger. He is always there, always caring, always loving, always delivering us - even when the winds are blowing and the boat is filling up! After all, Jesus was in the boat with them! He is still in the boat with you!

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, so much of my life seems to be running through one storm after another. Often it seems my boat is nearly swamped. Yet I am still here today, still alive in Your love. Help me to grow in faith, that I may never doubt Your power, Your love, or Your care for me. Amen.
