Into God's Hands

"Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, because of what they have done; remember also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who have been trying to intimidate me."

Reestablishing the capital of Jerusalem after the devastation of the Babylonian captivity was a miracle.  Against immense opposition, Nehemiah led God's people to rebuild the city.

He suffered much opposition.  None more disheartening than that of certain leaders, including some who were prophets.  Those within the leadership of the church may also err and oppose the will of God.

Rather than taking vengeance into his own hands, Nehemiah remands the issue of justice into the hands of God.  It is difficult for us not to desire, perhaps even demand justice, for treachery, treason, and opposition to God's will.

We too may face the treachery and opposition of godless people.  Rather than exacting our own justice and revenge, we can let go - leaving everything in God's hands!  He knows better than we how to order all things for the greatest good!

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, often I grow angry and impatient with others around me, who seem to be impeding my efforts to do Your will.  Remind me of Your great mercy and forgiveness of my ignorance and sin.  Help me to simply trust Your imposition of justice, and to have a merciful heart like Yours.  Amen.
