God has given this much knowledge to every single human being, the knowledge of His law.  Obviously, this includes knowledge that there is a God.  Ninety plus percent of human beings acknowledge the existence of God.  The rest have been working hard to convince themselves otherwise.  For "their consciences are also bearing witness."

The law however only shows us our sin, our need for forgiveness.  Therefore the Gospel must finish the revelation, that "God is love."  This good news of God's love only comes through Holy Scripture, God's special revelation of Himself.  This is what we are called to share with our fellowmen, we who know God's goodness and love, His salvation in Jesus Christ.

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, help me to see that Your Word of Law is present in all hearts.  Keep me mindful, that Your Gospel is revealed only in Your Word and Sacraments.  Keep me in Your Word, and when I set out to witness Your Gospel of love, give me courage and confidence to speak Your Word in a winsome way!  Amen.
