Interesting how the temptation to disregard and despise our parents is as old as mankind. Why should this be? Scripture says, "It is sin living in me." [Rom. 7:20]
What a horrible aspect of sin, that we should despise the ones who gave us life, who loved us and nurtured us to adulthood, whose love for us never ends.
God forgives us for all sins. Christ paid for them with His blood. So let us flee the disgusting immorality of the world around us, people who despise the elderly, including their own parents.
As we remember the tender love of our heavenly Father, let us remember
to tenderly love our parents, even when they grow old.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for not honoring my father and mother as I should, for my rebellion and disrespect. Heal me of this despicable ingratitude, and overcome the sin living in me by Your Holy Spirit, that I may love, honor, cherish, respect, and obey my parents. Amen.
