Honor Marriage

"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

Sexuality is a concern for God because He has designed us with the capacity for deep, joyous, fulfilling relationship with Himself and one another. Marriage began, because "it is not good for the man to be alone."

If we treat sexuality like nothing more than a trip to the gym, just a pleasurable workout, we diminish our capacity to experience selfless, sacrificial, genuine loving relationship.

Marriage is representative of our relationship with God. God is love. The cheapening of marriage also lessens our capacity for relationship with God. Sexuality like many other pleasures, can even be distorted into gross idolatry.

Therefore God warns us, and calls us to repentance. The world around us grows more oblivious to the darkness and destruction of promiscuity. Let us repent, and continue to experience even more deeply God's loving embrace in Jesus.

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, every day my mind is flooded with images depicting sexuality as a casual pleasure. I too may be tempted to idolatry, worshipping the thing, the pleasure, rather than You, the Creator, and under-appreciating the lovely spouse You have given me. Forgive me for a willingness to settle for shallow pleasures. Continue to deepen my love for You and for others, that I too may flee sexual immorality and honor marriage. Amen.
