Hard As Stone
"O Lord, do not Your eyes look for truth? You struck them,
but they felt no pain; You crushed them, but they refused correction.
They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent."
Jeremiah 5:3

These words do not describe ordinary worldly unbelievers. They were spoken about God's own people. People within the church [including pastors] can become so worldly, that they must be called to repentance.
Sadly, those within the church can develop even greater impenitence than unbelievers. We too may ignore the pain of God's discipline, may refuse correction, may make our faces harder than stone, and refuse to repent. By so doing, we also forfeit the joy of God's forgiveness and salvation!
Pastors should lead the way in repentance and faith. When they
call you to the same, receive their correction, humble yourself in repentance.
God forbid that we should ever harden our faces against Him!

For The Day

O Lord, You have given me a pastor to call me to repentance, to provide me with correction, to assure me of Your forgiveness and love. Strengthen him in his ministry, and help me to submit to him. Keep me from ever hardening my heart against Your Word. Amen!
