"This is the one I esteem; he who is humble and contrite in spirit,
and trembles at My Word."

Two very basic issues are treated: humility and contrition, and the Word of God. Humility and contrition are contrary to the sinful nature within us. Respect for the Word of God is contrary to the sinful nature within us.
Sinful pride destroys any hope of helping ourselves, and resists God's healing Word. Only God can break through our pride and sin, and create a right spirit within us.
Let us be aware that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. He esteems all who are humble and contrite, all who love and revere His Word. And of course, God's Word is all about Jesus, and His forgiving love!

Prayer
For The Day
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
O Lord, how puzzling it is that I should be so averse to truth, so resistant to Your help, so blind to Your love. Humble me to hear Your Word, to revere it, that in contrition I may rejoice always to hear Your forgiveness, and live in Your love. Amen.
