Enslaved?  Or Free?

"For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave."
1 Corinthians 7:22

The wisdom of God helps each of us in our particular circumstance.  Those who are struggling in slavery, whether financial, chemical, relational, or political, are to remember that we are free in Christ no matter what our circumstance.  Those who are relatively free, must not exult in their freedom, but remember that they have become slaves to Christ.

So first we struggle to grasp our freedom in Christ, and then we struggle to learn that true freedom is serving Christ.  If you are enslaved, remember you are free in Christ and live that freedom!  Are you free?  Remember, that freedom used for self is a return to slavery.  The only way to remain free, is to serve Christ.

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, when I struggle against constraints in my life, I don't realize it, but I often desire a freedom even from You.  When I am free, I use my freedom all too often to serve myself and ignore You.  Forgive me, and teach me, that I am always free in Christ Jesus, free as I serve Him!  Amen.
