Contending With God
Note:  Back from the wilderness.  Karl didn't fair too well, with splenic pain and difficulties.  Paul did great, including a long hike up to Pawnee Pass [12,550 ft.].  God watches over us, and blesses us so richly!

"Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?  Let him who accuses God answer Him."
Job 40:2

Following up on yesterday's theme, let us see that coveting is a form of "contending with the Almighty."  Coveting is founded on the belief that God hasn't been fair to me.  I don't have what others have, what I deserve!

Likewise, we contend with God whenever we choose sin.  We ignorantly determine to do as we please, presuming we can defend our actions with mitigating circumstances, and accuse God of unfairness in instructing us to do otherwise.

Will we "correct" God?  Obviously not!  But God has "corrected" our sin, through His mercy and forgiveness in Jesus.  God continues to "correct" us, we who believe in Jesus, with the gift of His Holy Spirit, Who works in our hearts through God's Word and Sacraments!

O Lord God, forgive me for the ways in which I so frequently "contend" against You, and accuse You of doing me wrong and instructing me wrong.  Humble me, Heavenly Father, that I may continue to find peace and refuge in Jesus, and light for my path in Your Word.  Amen.
