From time to time people face huge decisions, and wish they could feel some direction from God. The Apostle Paul felt a compulsion from the Spirit of God.
The Spirit also "compels" us to do certain things. However, we often resist His compulsion. He compels us to repent, to grow in our faith in Jesus, to be faithful in gathering with God's people, to frequently study God's Word, to receive the Sacrament often, to live a life of love, prayer, and good works.
If we ignore His compulsion in these things, we become deaf to His voice. It should not surprise us then when we can't hear Him when we want to. We should note too, that the Spirit's compulsion for Paul, was to do good regardless of the cost. Are we ready to hear and comply with that kind of compulsion?

Prayer For The Day

O Lord, I too want Your direction in my life, though in my sin I resist your influence. Forgive me, for Jesus' sake. And please, Lord, do not take Your Spirit from me, but open my ears to Your Word. Change my heart so that I may follow Your way, the good way, no matter what the sacrifice. Amen.
