Thought For The Day

The other day a young adult from church made the remark, "Well, God doesn't care about money anyway." In this section of the book of Numbers, the offerings of the children of Israel are listed in great detail.
While it is true that God does not care about money, He does care about our hearts. That is what offerings are all about, our hearts. Are we grateful? Content? Humbly trusting that God will always provide?
God cares about offerings because money distorts human hearts, twisting them in idolatrous knots of unbelief, discontentment, ingratitude, greed, and arrogance. A life lived in pursuit of wealth is a life wasted!
As we live in God's loving forgiveness and patience, may our giving reflect hearts filled with gratitude, joy, contentment, and faith!

O Lord, how inspiring of joy that you deeply love my heart, my soul, my being. Fill me with faith, that my heart may reflect all that I know about you. Let my giving, my whole life, clearly reveal Your presence in my heart. Amen.
